Bee Removal

Extermination is the bee removal method most commonly chosen by our customers. It is the least costly, quickest, and safest way to manage virtually any bee population. Extermination is generally divided into two categories:

• Most or all of the bee swarm can be seen (e.g. a swarm on the branch of a tree or other surface)
• Only the flying bees can be seen because the swarm is inside a void space (e.g. the hollow space inside a wall)

When bees are nesting within wall voids of homes or commercial buildings, our highly trained technicians will begin by evaluating the location of the bees. This may require drilling one or more small holes.

Once we have established the location of the bees, we will spray specially-formulated insecticide into the hive location to exterminate the bees. Occasionally, when a hive is well established, it is not possible to exterminate the bees unless the void is opened to allow proper delivery of the insecticide.

Live Bee Removal

Live removal of honey bees is an option generally chosen only by customers with medical conditions that will not allow the use of insecticides or those with strong beliefs against exterminating bees.

Our fee for live bee removal is much higher than our extermination fee because it requires more experience, labor, fuel, and equipment. Live bee removal must be performed only by persons with expert knowledge of bees and specialized equipment.

Occasionally, based on the temperament of the bees and the site setting (child or pet exposure to bees), live bee removal is not possible. Due to safety considerations, we reserve the right to make the final decision whether to employ live bee removal versus bee extermination.

Bee Hive Extraction from Structural Voids and Other Locations

Honey bees that have located in any location for more than a couple of weeks will have produced a significant amount of wax and honey (hive materials). Subsequent to bee extermination/removal, we always recommend the removal of hive materials, when practicable. An additional fee applies for this work.

If bee hive materials are not properly removed and disposed, "robber bees" will be encouraged to rob honey from the exterminated hive and scout bees often identify the exterminated hive as a good location to set up a new home (reinvest).

With customer approval, we will remove construction materials to expose the bee hive and remove the hive materials. The entire area will be cleaned and deodorized to discourage re-infestation.

Repair and Reconstruction After Bee Hive Extraction

We provide repair service to the area(s) where bee hives have been removed. An additional fee applies for this work.

Our experienced technicians have completed hundreds of repairs. Repairs commonly consist of framing carpentry, insulation of void spaces, stucco replacement, drywall installation and texturing, and painting.
